Serenity in Austria

During our road trip through Western Europe, we take a three-day-stop in beautiful Lech, Austria. A renown place in our home country, since Lech is one of the favorite wintersport among the Dutch royals. Apparently, the hotel we stay at is a favorite one of them too, as the staff is so enormously enthusiastic about the fact that we’re Dutch. Warm welcome, check.

Welcome to the ‘Post’

Five-star hotel Gasthof Post is situated at the foot of the Arlberg. A family owned hotel (by the Moosbrugger family) and a well known member of Relais & Châteaux for over 40 years. The inside interior, all designed by Mrs. Moosbrugger herself, reflects the beauty of the outside nature: it’s decent, it’s proper and it embraces with a feeling of safety.

Oscar has a full room for himself. He takes his own journey of discovery across our “Fürsten Suite”, while we unpack our luggage and settle ourselves.

Dinner is waiting. Restaurant Postblick gives you a stunning panorama view over the mountains. Mrs. Moosbrugger personally welcomes us and brings us to our table. A glass of Champagne, followed by a series of delicate dishes of lobster and scallops, lamb and cassis and chocolate, all combined with an elegant wine, mostly from Germany. After our last course, the (more than) passionate sommelier took us to the wine cellar, introducing us to the finest, hidden wines there. It was so much fun to get to know the staff here. Beautiful how the familiair atmosphere of the people working at Gasthof Post, finds its way all to the restaurant and hotel itself, to be noticed by the guests.

Hiking across the Arlberg

The rest of the days, we enjoyed ourselves in the area, walking all different paths of the Arlberg. You can take the ski lift up and walk all the way down. I’m sure it must be a cozy, snowy fairytale here in the winter. But we were also so happy to be here this summer. It’s definitely more than just a stop during our road trip.
